Making a return for Battlefield 4 is the Spectator Mode, and in the latest Road to Battlefield 4 post, DICE details what BF4 gamers can enjoy with the added feature.

Those who choose to participate via Spectator Mode can choose from four different views, namely the First Person, the Third Person, the Tabletop, and the Freecam View. While each has a benefit, you will be free to switch among these views in the easiest way possible.

"Tabletop View is pretty much self-explanatory--it's where you will see in the same manner as the Commander Mode screen and select and view from any item that has a camera. This means you can toggle from player to vehicles and see the action frame-by-frame.

Tabletop View gives you a bird’s-eye view on the action, but thanks to the picture-in-picture screen you can also keep an eye on the action on the streets, in the air or at sea. (CREDIT: Battlefield Official Blog)

Third Person puts you in the shoes of just one player viewed overhead. This way, you can view the surroundings in a more cinematic way. Freecam View gives you access to give cameras that you can toggle back and forth in. What's more, these cameras are mobile, making it the ideal camera for those who want to create a mini movie using Battlefield 4 footage.

Finally, you have the First Person View, which is where the battle is at and gives you the feel of playing Battlefield 4.

One of the biggest advantages to having the Spectator Mode lies in competitive gaming, and this can pave the way for Battlefield 4 to be at the front and center of viewing competitive gaming. DICE hopes that this is the first step towards the e-sports goal for Battlefield 4.

Here to give more details on Battlefield 4's Spectator Mode are assistant producer Daniel Matros and junior gameplay designer Dennis Brännvall.

DICE details PS4 touchpad capabilities

Another bonus for Battlefield 4 gamers who will be using the PS4 has been revealed by DICE. A report from GameSpot states that the DualShock 4's touchpad may be used to throw grenades.

"We've experimented, but haven't exactly nailed how we want it to behave just yet. Obviously flicking to throw a grenade is an option," said Aleksander Grondal, multiplayer producer, in an interview quoted by GameSpot. "There's a bunch of things we're testing out--we just haven't settled on anything."

This can be one of the advantages of the PS4 over the Xbox One, which already has the definite support for Kinect.
