It must be due to the fact that Japan is likely to get the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One next-gen consoles almost half a year from now. Or it may be because there are still a lot of Japanese developers who believe in the capabilities of current-gen consoles.

This is a trend that Games Radar reports to have emerged in the course of the Tokyo Game Show 2013, as a lot of PS3 gaming titles are still being rolled out and met with great reception. Perhaps 2013 is still built on the foundation of current-gen gaming, at least in Japan.

However, the PS4 and the Xbox One consoles were not ignored at the event, as new footage and gameplay trailers have been released for some of anticipated games to release for come November in other countries.

Trailers and Upcoming Games Revealed in Video

While gamescom brought with it a number of much-anticipated games as it is the platform where Sony had decided to unveil most of its games for the next-gen console PS4, there weren't a lack of new material for TGS 2013.

"Brawler Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z" is one of the anticipated games for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PS Vita in Japan, as it is the first "Dragon Ball Z" game in more than two years of waiting. It will allow for up to four-player battles, impressive moves and chaotic battles.

One of the many "Final Fantasy" games awaited is the "Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII," slated for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on Feb. 11, 2013. Preorder information has already been revealed in the trailer.

A forerunner for both the current and next-gen console games is "The Evil Within" from Bethesda and Shinji Mikami, who embodies survival horror at its finest. Watch the trailer for the immersive game at your own risk.

Another very cool upcoming PS3 and PS Vita game is "J-Stars Victory Vs," which is a fighting game that features your favorite heroes of "Weekly Shonen Jump". Some of these include "Bleach's" Ichigo Kurosaki, Kenshin Himura of "Rurouni Kenshin," Son Goku and Vegeta from "Dragon Ball," "One Piece's" hero Monkey D. Luffy and everyone's long-time favorite troller and hero, Sakata Gintoki of "Gintama," among others.

"Crimson Dragon" is one of the upcoming games for the Xbox One, and as seen in this trailer from IGN, it is touted to be a possible follow-up to "Panzer Dragoon" as it has similar elements that will appeal to fans of the latter.

PS4 has its own champion in the form of "Final Fantasy XV," as seen in this trailer.

Cosplay, Cosplay and More Cosplay

Any Japanese event related to gaming, mangas, and comics will always, always have cosplay. And, as a treat this year, TGS 2013 did not disappoint with the sheer number of girls and guys who wore their favorite characters to the event.
