Bill Gates, along with his wife Melinda, has been working on the eradication of poverty on the international level for quite some time now. His foundation not only makes huge donations to poor countries but gets actively involved in social causes. However, Mr Gates never mixed his sense of humour with cause like this before.
The Microsoft giant appeared on the "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" show and declared that he would like to have a viral video promoting his Web site Gatesletter.com. Apparently, the declaration was not a spontaneous overflow of Mr Gates' uncontrollable emotions. Immediately, Jimmy Fallon and his audience get to know what he exactly meant by the viral video as we discover the new avatar of Mr Gates.
The man who opened new "Windows" for millions of people around the world was seen making fun of himself as he appeared in various costumes and make-up. He is seen wearing fancy glasses, unique hats and outrageous wigs to speak only what he meant to popularise: "Gatesletter.com." He is also seen donning strange-looking facial hair in the video. The 58-year-old businessman looked at his funniest best to promote a great cause in a unique manner.
Mr Fallon put his Apple computer aside during the interview just to show respect to Mr Gates, Geek Wire reported. Both Mr Fallon and Mr Gates promoted the video on Twitter. Mr Fallon announced that they did not have time to make any viral video for Mr Gates, while the latter wrote that it was an effort from both of them to create the video.
The video aims to promote Mr Gates' Web site. The site discusses three myths that are obstacles for the poor. One of the myths unmasked is that the poor countries are forever destined to be poor. Mr Gates argues how the world is changing in terms of health, economy and social structure.
We have to wait to see if the video becomes viral or not. The YouTube video had more than 100,000 views as of this writing.
