Bioware Teases Behind-The-Scenes Look At New ‘Mass Effect’ Game
Few games have captivated an audience like the “Mass Effect” games have. Despite a controversial ending to the game, many still consider the “Mass Effect” trilogy as a video game epic and possibly the magnum opus of game developer Bioware, which is no stranger to sci-fi games, thanks to its experience on various “Star Wars” games. With a new “Mass Effect” game confirmed, fans have been wondering about the details of the game, with the developer finally giving fans a peek at the production.
The cinematic director of “Mass Effect,” Ken Thain, has shared an image through his Twitter account. The picture shows some actors in motion capture suits, so it appears that the new “Mass Effect” game will have more realistic conversations than the previous iterations.
Another thing the director teases the fans with is that the team has shot a “very cool” scene for the next “Mass Effect” title. Considering how many supposedly cool scenes were in the previous games, this could be considered a big statement.
While more concrete details for the game haven’t been released, Polygon has confirmed that the writer of “Halo 4” will write this new “Mass Effect” title, which fans have dubbed “Mass Effect 4” until an official title for the game is released. The story will also be a completely new one as players will no longer be following the adventures of Commander Shepard because his story is officially finished despite the controversy surrounding the ending.
Bioware has also confirmed that this “Mass Effect” title will have an online component, though once again the details are slim. This is a big departure from the “Mass Effect” series, as the previous games have been very single-player driven, with players only ever going online to get DLC for the game.
That being said, the company has had experience with online titles before with their continued work on “Star Wars: The Old Republic.” Of course, the new “Mass Effect” game isn’t expected to be an online-only affair, though it should be interesting to see Bioware try and put online components in a series that has been single player-focused for its entire shelf life.
