'Black Sails' Season 3: The war with England begins over control of Nassau [Watch Video]
A new video released by Starz gives a preview of some of the events in “Black Sails” Season 3. One of the most prominent plot points this time around is the war with England, which will finally begin in earnest.
The video posted on the YouTube channel of Starz shows how England will react to the activities of the pirates from Nassau. “We’ve just burnt Charles Town to the ground. We’ve taken all this gold from the Spanish,” Luke Arnold (John Silver) said in the video.
Charles Vane (Zach McGowan) can be seen telling Rackham (Toby Schmitz) that having so much Spanish gold on an English island “demands a response.” Schmitz pointed out that even holding on to that much gold will prove to be a “logistic problem” in the next season. The English navy will attempt to take over the fort at Nassau and thereby not only control the island but also take possession of the gold.
“If they’re going to survive what’s coming, it’s time for the pirates to come together as one,” Arnold said. Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) points out that the war is getting more dangerous and the strong men on the island will have to “stand together and face it” in “Black Sails” Season 3.
Co-creator and Executive Producer Jonathan E. Steinberg pointed out that the war between the pirates and England “has been coming since we met the pirates” in the very first season. Steinberg explained that the threat from England to Nassau is “real” and it now “has a face.”
England will send Woodes Rogers (Luke Roberts) to become the next governor of the New Providence Island. Roberts revealed that the main aim of his character in “Black Sails” Season 3 is to “restore commerce to Nassau” and he described Eleanor Guthrie (Hannah New) as the key to helping him with his plan.
