BlackBerry lures customers back with the ‘most secured’ Android smartphone models
After news of exploding Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and Apple iPhones went online, BlackBerry’s move to take another shot at selling smartphone is nothing but timely.
While the Canadian tech firm had decided to put its focus on developing softwares, a Chinese smartphone maker called TCL has built BlackBerry-branded Android handsets dubbed DTEK60 and DTEK50.
According to BlackBerry, DTEK60 and DTEK50 are the world’s most secured Android smartphones as they are equipped with BlackBerry’s secured mobile operating software.
“Not all smartphones are equally secure. With the DTEK series of smartphones, you have built-in armour protecting your personal information,” the company, formerly known as Research in Motion Limited, said in its website.
“BlackBerry lives and breathes security and has taken extra steps to help protect you from malware, data breaches and any attempts to hack and tamper with your OS.”
According to BlackBerry COO Marty Beard, DTEK60 is “absolutely not the last BlackBerry phone.”
The 5.5-inch DTEK60 and the 5.2-inch DTEK50 run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and boast security features including encryption and password keeper. The DTEK60 model has the fingerprint sensor and 2-Terabyte microSD card support.
BlackBerry DTEK 60 retails for US$499 (AU$649) while DTEK50 retails for US$299 (AU$389) in the United States. However, the BlackBerry-branded smartphones are not yet available in Australia.
