The BlackBerry Passport has been criticised by numerous tech sites for its weird square design. However, the initial sales report of the BlackBerry Passport is quite impressive.

VentureBeat reports that the BlackBerry Passport preorders have reached the 200,000 mark. The CEO of BlackBerry John Chen claimed that it took only ten hours to sell all the BlackBerry Passport units on BlackBerry's website as well as on Amazon.

The BlackBerry Passport features a QWERTY touch-enabled keyboard that comes with three rows of keys. The design of the handset is especially catered to business owners.

The wide square 4.5-inch display of BlackBerry Passport supports 1440 x 1440 pixels resolution and offers 453 ppi. The BlackBerry Passport is powered by Snapdragon 801 chipset, which houses a quad-core processor that delivers a processing speed of 2.2 GHz. It also features 3 GB RAM.

Additionally, the BlackBerry Passport is equipped with a 13 MP rear camera with optical image stabilization feature. The internal storage of BlackBerry Passport is 32 GB. It comes with a huge battery of 3540 mAh capacity.

The handset runs on the latest BB OS 10.3, which now features the BlackBerry Assistant, a voice assistant feature like Siri and Google Now. A good thing about this OS is it supports Android apps through the Amazon Appstore.

The BlackBerry Passport is priced at $599 for an unlocked edition, according to Popherald. The BlackBerry Passport is not loaded with a SIM card, which means users can use SIM cards from either AT&T and T-Mobile. The Passport does not currently support Sprint and T-Mobile SIM cards.

According to Popherald, AT&T will sell the BlackBerry Passport through a single year contract of $249 later this year. AT&T users will also be able to get the Passport handset from AT&T through the Next installment scheme.

Meanwhile, PhoneArena claims that BlackBerry is planning to launch the BlackBerry Classic in November. The design of this device is similar to the BlackBerry Q10 that came with a complete set of physical QWERTY.
