Blackberry released their newest smartphone Z10 with Blackberry 10 OS version and has proven that it is worth buying with its new applications, new functions and touch rendering screen. Some Blackberry veteran users know the in and out within the device, but for those who are novice to Z10, here are some essential tips, tricks and secrets you should know about.

1. Blackberry 10 Hub Peeking
You can peek the Blackberry Hub from any screen or application by simply swiping up then right and the Hub will peek from the left side. This is the quickest access to it without going back to the home screen.

2. Hub Filters
You can select which email, social network sources and other accounts you want to be displayed inside the Blackberry Hub. Go to the "Hub's Settings" by pressing the three-dotted icon on the bottom right and select "Hub Management." Disable any accounts you do not want included in the Hub.

3. Camera on Lock screen
Even if the device is locked, you can switch on the screen, press on the camera icon for 5 seconds and the camera app will be activated without unlocking your phone.

4. Take a Screen Shot
Most smartphones may need a screenshot button or an app to capture the image of the current screen. Press both volume up and volume down to get a screen shot on any screen or application.

5. Hide the Keyboard
If you are annoyed with the popping keyboard whenever you are editing something such as in email, swipe down your two fingers on the keyboard to make it go away.

6. Switch Calendar Views
The quickest way to switch between calendar views is to tap quickly on the screen inside the calendar app and it will switch from daily, weekly and monthly views.

7. Voice Control

To access Voice Control on any screen or application, press the Side Mute Key for two seconds.

8. Battery Percentage
For users who want to know the exact battery percentage of your Blackberry Z10, go to "Settings > About > Change the category to Hardware"and it will then display the exact battery level.

9. Format Your Email
In Blackberry 10, you can customise the colour, size and font style of the characters. Swipe down on the keyboard to remove them then swipe left to see the "Attach, Format, Importance, Add Bcc, and Save" options.

10. Camera Functions

a. Activate Shutter: Use any of the volume keys or touch the screen

b. Burst Mode: Touch the "Overflow" icon to activate

c. Spot Shots: Touch and hold to enable

d. Stabilisation: Use this feature of the camera app for shaking hands

e. Start/Stop video recording: Control the start and stop of video camera using the volume keys

11. Music Controls
To enable advance music controls, go to "Settings > System Volume > Set the Music Shortcuts On." Once activated, you can now use the volume keys to navigate between previous and next tracks.

12. Boot Status
During the boot, hold press on the Blackberry icon to see the current boot percentage status.

13. Browsing Tips

a. Save Web page on the Home screen: Press the "Overflow Menu > Add to Home screen"

b. Adobe Flash: To enable or disable this browser feature, go to "Settings > Display and Actions > Adobe Flash"

c. Desktop Mode: Enabling this feature will load Web pages similar to desktop viewing. Go to "Settings > Developer Tools > Desktop mode"

d. Privacy and Security: Blackberry is packed with security features and enabling Private Browsing or pop-up block is possible. "Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Enable Private Browsing and/or Block Pop-up"

e. Default Search Engine: Type on the address bar and then select the top right icon of Bing. Choose the search engine you want to use as default.
