Chinese brands are slowly turning out smartphones that have surprisingly competent offerings that go beyond the plastic look and feel that most people associate with anything Made in China.

According to Digital Trends, Huawei Ascend P2 is the company's latest attempt to take the giant iPhone 5 head-on. While it's still too early to tell how the ramble will go, it is good to see how the contender will match against the supposed lead runner-ups for the smartphone giant.

Features

T3 reports that the BlackBerry Z10has a 1.5 Hz dual-core processor, putting it below Huawei's Ascend P2, which features an impeccable and surprising 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, according to ThinkDigit.

Design and performance

Though it runs on the Android 4.1, what's interesting is the Ascend P2's Emotion UI, which, according to KnowYourMobile, can be a love it or hate it relationship depending on the type of skins that are made available to you.

Sadly, Digital Trends reports that, while the quad-core processor can seem to make the Ascend P2 a fast phone, the Emotion UI can slow down your mechanism.

As far as its performance goes, the Ascend P2 could not be entirely faulted for a satisfactory enough performance given its background, but if you do want a faster processor, the BB10 is a better way to go.

BlackBerry Z10 is the flagship phone that was released with the BB 10 OS, and so far it has the advantage of a system that merges the good qualities of the Android and the iOS but also bringing the BlackBerry experience to the user.

Overall, you are looking at widgets, merged homescreens, a BlackBerry Hub for everything you need, and basically an easy-to-use interface with the BlackBerryZ10 that makes a very good flagship to introduce the new BB10, reports TechRadar.

Screen

In terms of pixel density, the BlackBerry Z10 has already gone far beyond what the iPhone 5 can offer at 1280 x768 in its 4.2-inch display.

The contender, however, offers a bigger screen at 4.7-inch display, perfect for those who don't want to be limited by the screen space. What's more, it comes to a close second even compared to the iPhone 5 in terms of pixel density, as it clocks in a 1280x720 pixels, reports Digital Trends.

Camera

Huawei Ascend P2is actually at par with most market leader phone for its camera, boasting a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front camera.

BlackBerry Z10 takes a backseat here as the handset only has 8-megapixel for its rear camera, reports CNet. However, it does have a significantly higher count in megapixels for its front camera at 2-megapixel.

In addition, the Z10 has the TimeShift feature, which allows users to manipulate photos so that you can have the perfect shot, chosen and edited from a set of 10 or so consecutive shots taken in a single go.

Storage and connectivity

Digital Trends reports that the Ascend P2 has a storage capacity of only 16GB, which is currently at par with the Z10. But with the RAM capacity, the Z10 cuts the tier top with 2GB' worth compared to Ascend P2's 1GB.

The BlackBerry Z10 also comes out as the winner in the connectivity territory, as it boasts a newer version of the Bluetooth than the Ascend P2. However, TechRadar reports that the Ascend P2 does have a CAT 4 LTE, the first in the smartphone industry, putting it at the top of even competitors like Samsung and Apple.
