[Spoiler Alert: The article contains major spoilers from episode 15 and episode 16 of "The Blacklist" Season 2, read at your own risk.]
This week’s blacklister does not need much of an introduction, as he is Agent Elizabeth Keen’s (Megan Boone) fraudster ex-husband, Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold). This intriguing, cold-blooded criminal, who turned out to be defective, according to Red, because he became emotionally involved, deserved an episode of his own and he is finally getting one.
“Tom Keen” is the title of episode 16 of “The Blacklist” Season 2. Red (James Spader) has made him the next official blacklister because Liz is in trouble, as she is facing an indictment for the murder she did not commit. The spoiler report indicates that Tom is going to make the “ultimate sacrifice” for Liz.
It is Tom who had shot the harbourmaster, Eugene Ames, to protect Liz. However, as Tom is officially dead, Liz has become the main suspect, especially after Detective Wilcox (Michael Kostroff) found direct physical evidence that Liz lied to the court. In episode 15’s final moments, Detective Wilcox arrived at Judge Richard Denner’s chambers with fresh evidence against Liz. She had said that she never saw her hired jailer Samuel Aleko (Dante Nero) on the ship. The detective, however, found a bullet in the ship’s hull that matches Liz’s service weapon and contains DNA from the Aleko’s blood.
Tom is the only man who can exonerate Liz, according to Red in the preview. Based on the information received from Bud McCready (Lance Henriksen), Tom’s handler and the criminal underworld powerbroker, the Major, Red is set to track down Tom in Germany. In the preview, Tom can be seen surprised to find Red and Agent Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) waiting for him in a car. Red is seen telling him, “Elizabeth is in trouble.”
Tom is going to arrive and take the fall for Liz, according to TV Guide’s spoiler report. He is going to “make the ultimate sacrifice.” The report reveals that Liz is not going to be impressed. The report has quoted Boone as saying that Liz sees him as a dangerous person and he will have to do more to make her trust him again.
“Anytime he comes into her life from this point on is going to be an extraordinary circumstance,” Boone said to TV Guide. It may be to seek redemption or he may enter her life to harm and manipulate her again. “She's going to be very skeptical. He's going to have reassure her faith in who he is,” the actress said.
