Bobbi Kristina Brown: Court orders to keep cause of death private
The Fulton County Medical Examiner has determined the cause of death of Bobbi Kristina Brown, who died two months ago at her home in Georgia. However, details about the results are being kept private.
According to CNN, the Fulton County Medical Examiner released a statement on Sept. 25, saying that the cause and manner of Brown’s death have already been identified. However, due to a court order, the medical examiner is not allowed to reveal specifics.
"However, a Fulton County Superior Court Order dated September 25, 2015 has been received, sealing the Autopsy Report and ordering the Medical Examiner to not release any further information to the public,” the statement read.
Phil Holloway, WXIA’s legal analyst, reportedly does not expect Brown’s autopsy report to reveal much evidence, considering that she was in a coma prior to her death. According to USA Today, Holloway said that having to keep the medical examiner’s report sealed from the public doesn’t necessarily stir legal concerns.
Brown was in a hospice and placed under induced coma for nearly six months before her death on July 26. She was found unresponsive in a bathtub in a still-mysterious incident at her home in Georgia on Jan. 31. It was alleged in June that her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, had beaten and intoxicated her with cocaine and alcohol mixed with “toxic cocktail” that eventually rendered her unconscious.
A US$10 million (AU$14.39 million) lawsuit was filed against Gordon. According to USA Today, Gordon was also accused of stealing Brown’s money after she became unconscious. However, his lawyers have since denied the accusations that Gordon was the one behind Brown's “wrongful death,” calling the reports "slanderous and meritless.”
Brown was 22 when she died at the hospice. She was the only daughter of rapper Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston. The manner in which she was found unconscious in the bathtub is reportedly similar to how Houston died three years ago. The music legend was also found in her bathtub facedown and unresponsive.
