Boxing News 2015: Floyd Mayweather Jr. Posts Video of Hotel Meeting With Manny Pacquiao
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is continuing to tease the millions of fight fans who are earnestly anticipating the announcement of his super fight against Manny Pacquiao posting a short video of his recent meeting with the Filipino in a hotel over a week ago on social media Instagram.
“You know, I congratulate him in his career. He had a wonderful career. And I had a wonderful career. Before we leave this sport, of course, we have to make this fight happen,” Mayweather Jr. was caught saying in the video which ran for only roughly a dozen seconds.
The meeting between Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao, which happened on Jan. 27 after both watched the Milwaukee Bucks vs. Miami Heat game in Florida, Miami, reportedly took an hour with both fighters apparently talking about the super fight and how they can make it happen in 2015.
The accompanying text of the video post on Instagram stated, “@badmedina, from the looks of this video... I'm telling Manny Pacquiao that we have to give the world this fight @jleonlove.”@badmedina is supposedly Mayweather Jr.’s current girlfriend while @jleonlove is a Mayweather associate who’s part of the inner circle of The Money Team. The latest on the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao front is that the networks— Showtime for Mayweather and HBO Sports for Pacquiao— have already agreed on some of the terms on the broadcasting details of the fight. Although both Stephen Espinoza, vice president for Showtime and Bob Arum, the president of Top Rank Promotions, had said that nothing is definite yet and that both sides are still working very hard to make the fight happen.
For their part, except for the recent video posted, Mayweather and Pacquiao have been relatively silent on the specifics of Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. The latest out of the Pacquiao camp is that they’ll respect Mayweather’s decision to delay the announcement and has since removed the “end of January” deadline for the undefeated American to make the decision.
“Let’s just wait for the announcement.” Pacquiao said after his local basketball pro team lost their game on Sunday afternoon. If indeed there is going to be announcement, it is understood that the first official statement will be coming from Mayweather Jr. or his camp.
