Boyz II Men creates charity drive for Japan victims
R&B group, Boyz II Men campaign for Japan victims as other celebrities help drum up fund raising efforts
The R & B members of the singing group, Boyz II Men have created a charity drive to raise funds for the victims of the devastating twin disaster that have crippled Japan last week.
The “End of the Road” singers have collaborated with FirstGiving Online for the restoration funds.
"We, Boyz II Men, have a very special relationship with the people of Japan," the members said in a message they posted on FirstGiving Online, said Aceshowbiz.
They added, "We have been going to Japan for the past 20 years and we are deeply concerned for the people of Japan and especially for our friends and fans who reside in Sendai and all the areas affected by this earthquake and tsunami..."
By Sunday afternoon, the three-men group has already collected more than $6,500.
"Please join us in our effort to raise money through the Red Cross of America to help people in need. We ask all of our fans across the world to join us as we attempt to do something meaningful. Thank you in advance for your contribution."
The hopes to raise $100,000 to be donated to the American National Red Cross for Japan quake victims.
Other celebrities have initiated efforts to provide assistance to the Japan victims, said Aceshowbiz.
Katy Perry took to her blog on Sunday to drum up relief efforts. She wrote: "Remember as you go about your day please #prayforjapan & if you are able, text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to Japan's emergency relief."
Rap artist, P. Diddy has been retweeting the message : "EVERYONE KEEP TEXTING!! The quake & tsunami victims in Japan NEED US!!!" in hopes to help and contribute for the victims of the quake stricken Japan.
