Brad Pitt walked into the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood Saturday night with a big prominent gash under his left eye that he apparently sustained from a late-night tumble while wearing unideal footwear. The actor was attending the star-studded annual Light Up the Blues Concert in support of Autism Speaks.

While fans worried over the possible cause of his evident bruise, the 51-year-old actor assured them that it was simply the result of his clumsiness that transpired last Friday night. "This is what happens when you try to run up steps in the dark, with your arms full, wearing flip flops," he said in a statement to E! News. "Turns out, if you then try to stop your forward momentum with your face, the result is road rash."

The little mishap however did not hinder the award-winning actor from attending the Autism Speaks benefit the night after, being the humanitarian and philanthropist that he is. He added that the night was full of “wonderful people” and that he was honored to be a part of the important charity event.

According to Xposé Entertainment, Piit, who raises children Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, Zahara, 10, Shiloh, eight and twins Knox and Vivienne, 6 with wife Angelina Jolie, paid $23,000 for a guitar signed by all the performers in the event after winning it from a bidding war. All featured performers, including Spencer Harte, Petra Haden, Nick Guzman and Matt Savage, were autistic.

This year’s Light Up the Blues Concert -- An Evening of Music to Benefit Autism Speaks marks the third concert of its kind since it was founded in 2012. It was hosted by Kristen and Stephen Stills, parents of autistic child Chris Stills and emceed by comedian Jack Black. It is now the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization. Other celebrities in attendance were Christina Applegate, Gary Cole and Amy Brenneman.
