Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 New DLC Revealed, Nintendo’s 1st Free-to-Play & Fable 3 Offered for Free [TRAILER]
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is not yet dead--in fact it's back and it's kicking hard with its latest DLC pack, Vengeance.
A timed exclusive for the Xbox 360, Vengeance will be available for download starting July 2. The DLC will have four multiplayer maps as well as an additional zombie map entitled Buried, where you'll face off with the undead in the Old West.
The other maps are Cove, which is set in a wreckage of a crashed jet; Detour, which will take place in a suspension bridge above the East Coast waterway; Uplink, which brings memories of Summit multiplayer map set in Myanmar; and Rush, which starts off seemingly innocently in a paintball area and goes into full-battle mode.
You can get Vengeance for 1200 Microsoft Points or $15 at the Xbox Live or $14.99 from the PlayStation Store. Season Pass holders can download this pack for free.
Fable 3 offered free at Xbox Live
From now until June 30, Xbox Live Gold members will have the chance to download Fable 3 for free. The game has been an exclusive Xbox 360 franchise, which follows the events after Fable 2.
GameSpot reports that this is part of the Games with Gold promo, which will officially start this July and will only be available for Xbox Live Gold members.
According to the official Xbox website, the promo will give two games per month, on the 1st and 16th of every month for free. Most of the titles will be fan favorite games and playable "no matter what"--so you don't have to be afraid of license expiries and such. The only catch is that it will be available for a limited time only.
The report adds that, for July, the two games which will be up for download are Assassin's Creed 2 and Halo 3, but you have to check back with the website on which game will be made available on which date.
Nintendo announces its first free-to-play
Nintendo is finally stepping into free-to-play territory with Steel Diver, an original 3DS shooter and strategy title.
This is a turnaround from Nintendo President Satoru Iwata's statement from last year, where Joystiq reports that he once said that free-to-play games won't be a thing with Nintendo.
While the company itself has not yet announced any more details other than the fact that there will be a new design and fresh game for Steel Diver's free-to-play, Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo executive, said that the focus was to make sure that the entertainment value still stands with the game,
"There is something we're doing with the Steel Diver idea that I think is going to open things up with that game," said Miyamoto in a statement quoted by Joystiq.
"It's going to be very fun. We're exploring from a perspective of where we can take that from a multiplayer standpoint--it's going to have this four-player battle mode that I think is going to be very interesting."
