Call of Duty: Ghosts: 4 Things We Want and Expect
Call of Duty: Ghosts will be the first COD game to step into the world of next-gen consoles, which means that, aside from a potential breather from the formula of the series, there are many ways to explore and exploit the new platform.
Given this, here are some of the expectations that most people who have enjoyed the COD games for the upcoming Ghosts installment, so that it will serve as a highlight instead of just another follow-up to the well-loved shooter game.
Single-player, now on focus
Call of Duty has been known for its multiplayer modes, and this has been continually on the rise as each installment comes out.
However, the introduction of the most recent installment seems to be more focused on just one man, Ghost, from the Modern Warfare 2.
OnlySP,com points out that this may be Call of Duty's most novel break to date, from the usual strong suit of multiplayer to one that ventures into single-player territory.
While the back story originally follows the captured team, the story soon progresses to focus only on Riley, who went through torture and brainwashing by the enemy, and was finally left to die buried in the ground.
The story takes off with him just waking up to the fact that he really was brainwashed, and that now, his family and friends had been killed off. Of course, the main plot point here would be revenge--and what big potential that holds for a single-player campaign.
Bigger can be better for COD: Ghosts
What sets Call of Duty apart from Battlefield--in both good and not-so-great ways is that Battlefield has always been bigger in terms of scope, be it maps or vehicles.
Forbes reports that Ghosts can be Call of Duty's game changer, not just in terms of the story, but also for the kills and setting. Taking advantage of the next-gen consoles is one way to do this, and it may even amplify the story by giving the players more control over what's happening in the game.
More challenges befitting next-gen
The trouble with a tried and tested formula is that you already know how to predict the enemy, especially for shooting games. GamesRadar pointed out that Call of Duty can greatly improve in this aspect, by focusing on the tactics and strategies, as well as adaptations to changing battle conditions, rather than mere point and shoot.
Going beyond and into the (near) future
After the confirmation of Call of Duty: Ghosts the next bit of news is that Infinity Ward would be taking the helm in the creation, and according to Gaming Target, it may be taking the franchise towards a different direction.
This means that aside from a different plot, even the setting which will take place in the near future with modern weapons. However, for now, these are speculations based on what has already been released by Activision.
Best to wait it out until the official release on November 5 this year.
