Like any good sequel, "Call of Duty: Ghosts" pays attention to a fast, fluid gameplay that has made its prequels famous, but also injects in a unique premise, unprecedented player customisation and big changes that breathe a fresh new life into the multiplayer game experience. It can sometimes go over-the-top and unnecessarily complicated but it's perfect for current and nextgen consoles with big ambitious ideas and tremendous replay value.

Ghosts takes on a unique premise in an overwrought genre of ambiguous terrorist threats and Russian conflicts. This time, the threat comes from the south and not from the east, a federation of South American nation rich in oil rises to take over the hemisphere, coming to war against the U.S. as it pushes north.

Rather than just fights waves after waves of enemies on a linear ground level, the player finds himself flying helicopters, rappelling down skyscrapers, commanding tanks, firefights in space, scuba diving through shipwrecks and evading shark attacks. Each environment requires a new strategy, situational awareness and consideration to physics and verticality.

There still are elaborate setpieces, tense stealth missions and ferocious shootouts and the experience would be very memorable. The player could feel genuine dread as buildings and grounds collapse during orbital weapon strikes or moving through zero gravity space station ambush and out of a highrise window. It can also be exhilarating however, there is not much dramatic storytelling.

Create a Soldier is rather ambitious but the breadth of options empowers every player style. The wide range of weapons is paired with remarkably bigger maps and in deathmatch gametypes, teams often find themselves distributed across small contingents at different parts of the map whereas objective types draw everyone to certain points. Ghosts offers alternative routes, instead of limited paths, to encourage team effort more than the traditional run-and-gun strategy.

"Call of Duty: Ghosts" is not a big reinvention of the series and risks overcomplicating at times but the fun co-op modes, robust multiplayer game and various challenging campaigns make it the best "Call of Duty" yet. "Call of Duty: Ghosts" is available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Wii U.
