Call of Duty XP to be a grand event for a potentially big COD year
Activision’s planned September event for “Call of Duty” fans has a stunning lineup of not only games, but performers who will be celebrating the comeback of the event this year.
Confirmed headliners for Call of Duty XP include Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, as they take the stage for a Sunday, Sept. 4 performance, Business Wire reported.
Not only that, the event will also experience a lot of new highlights, such as the “Call of Duty” PlayStation VR experience on-site. This will deliver a firsthand simulation of how it would feel like to pilot a Jackal from “Call of Duty Infinite Warfare.”
“Call of Duty XP is the ultimate Call of Duty fan experience,” said Rob Kostich, EVP and general manager for Call of Duty in Activision. “From the game reveals led by Infinite Warfare multiplayer to the Call of Duty-inspired live experiences to the $2 million Call of Duty Championship finale, there’s something for everyone.”
Other events that fans can look forward to include a life-size paintball setup inspired by the “Call of Duty: Black ops” Nuketown multiplayer and a laser tag experience featuring the Zombies in Spaceland game mode. Both will be happening on Sept. 2 and Sept. 3.
On Sept. 4, all eyes will be on the Call of Duty World League Championship matches and concert.
This is the year that Activision has brought back the Call of Duty XP event. Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg previously shared with Venture Beat that the decision was made due to all of the happenings for the franchise this year.
He described it as a way for the stars to align around the Call of Duty franchise, especially for September. There were reveals for the game, such as “Call of Duty Infinite Warfare,” the new offer for “Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered,” as well as the first championships happening at roughly the same time.
“We felt like, with a great new game from Infinity Ward with Infinite Warfare, alongside one of the greatest games ever made, also made by Infinity Ward, being remastered, alongside our biggest esports event ever — there were a lot of stars aligning for September.”
“Call of Duty Infinite Warfare” will be released on Nov. 4.
