Canada Police Warn Public About Facebook Group Making Fun of Homeless People
A Facebook group called Creature Sightings has started mocking homeless people in such a way the Canada police now decided to start a probe on the matter.
Calgary police warned people about the Facebook group in a press conference on Tuesday. Images and videos are posted on the group wall to make fun of homeless people from Canada. A majority of photos in the group involve homeless "street" people who are caught off-guard on camera while they are taking a nap in a public place. It also involves other embarrassing situations such as returning empties; CTV News reported. There have been memes and comments which are utterly insulting to those people.
There are certain Canadian homeless people who are captured in videos. In the videos, they are seen being openly ridiculed with fake accent while they are called as "fine specimens." One of the people who had been ridiculed in a video was contacted by CTV News. He found such videos to be "rude" and "strange."
The man, identified as John, was spotted near the Cash Corner in Calgary. The place is known for being a hotspot for people looking for day jobs. Another man called the "creature" hunting group on Facebook as sick as it was built on the principles of making fun of people's miseries.
The group was started around a month ago. Presently, there are over 200 members in the group. When one of the founders was contacted by CBC News, he did not leave any comment. On the other hand, Jordan Tyler Smith wrote on the group that he had never considered it right (to have such a group). However, he wrote what they (homeless people) do was not right either. He called them "drunk bum" and "marinated in Listo" who might scare your child in a mall as he claimed that you would be bound to feel "disgusted."
Interestingly enough, Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness President Tim Richter found the group "disgusting" itself.
