A music video, created by two nurses in the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital's Cancer Unit featuring the patients singing and dancing to the song, "Brave" by Sara Bareilles, has reportedly gone viral with 949,243 clicks and 7,3222 likes on YouTube.
According to video LEX18, which also features 70 hospital staff members dancing and singing along with their patients, has gone viral.
Sarah Ewald, one of the kids in the video, who is battling out cancer for the second time, spoke about having fun despite bad times.
"There aren't always bad times, you need to be able to laugh about it," Sarah Ewald said in the LEX18 report.
"You need to have fun," she added.
The nurses wanted to lift the spirits of the kid patients so they were inspired to make a music video using the inspirational song by Sara Bareilles. They also hoped to inspire other kids in similar situations. They shot the video at the start of their shifts and during their days off.
Here are some of the lyrics of the song "Brave."
You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody's lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing's gonna hurt you the way that words do
When they settle 'neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
The lyrics of the song are appropriate for what the kids in the cancer unit are going through. The upbeat melody of the song keeps it from becoming too dramatic and depressing.
