Canon – Facebook Ready Camera Launched!
The gap between a Camera and a phone are narrowing. Canon has unveiled a new camera "Canon Powershot N." The camera has a dedicated Facebook button with the logo. Customers can now instantly share their photos by clicking this button. The days of a camera dedicated only for picture taking are perhaps behind us. Just as a phone is no longer used only to make calls, it is now the camera looking to do more than just take pictures.
According to reports, the phone does not come with a 3G or 4G connection. Users will have to be in Wi-Fi hot spots in order to share the photos on Facebook. The camera allows users to comment on pictures and videos which have been shared on Facebook.
The Canon Powershot N has a 12.1 MP camera, an 8x zoom, 28mm wide-angle lens, DIGIC 5 processor and a 2.8- inch touch screen. The camera also features a "Creative shot mode." This feature automatically generates five artistic photos along with the original for the users to upload onto Facebook.
The concept of a dedicated Facebook button is not knew. HTC tried this approach unsuccessfully with the "HTC First" smartphone. The phone had a 5 MP camera which would perhaps explain why the dedicated Facebook was not a very attractive feature in the phone, besides the primary function of a smartphone is to allow connectivity.
The Canon Powershot N may not go the HTC way because the main reason why anyone uses a camera is to take a picture and share it. Most manufacturers have been focussing on providing better picture quality and other features to make the picture taking easier. Canon is now trying to make the sharing of these pictures easier.
The camera should appeal to all the socialites who prefer to have a camera around to capture the perfect moment. The "Face ID" feature of the phone recognises familiar faces and automatically focuses on them. This feature can be a hit, particularly among friends. The camera is reported to be available for purchase from the Canon online store from Sept for $299.99.
