Caroline Wozniacki lands a new endorsement deal with Godiva Chocolatier. Wozniacki is reportedly the first sports endorser that the Belgian luxury chocolate manufacturer has signed.

The Dane tennis star revealed her Godiva’s deal on Instagram. “So excited to announce that my dream partnership is here,” Wozniacki wrote on the popular photo-sharing social networking application. “@Godiva is now officially feeding my sweet tooth.”

In an article by the Wall Street Journal, it has been reported that Wozniacki’s partnership with Godiva Chocolatier came when the company’s chief executive Mohamed Elsarsky came across the tennis star’s profile on WSJ, where she revealed her desire to have a “chocolate deal.” Godiva has never signed a sports personality as its endorser, but when Elsarky found out about Wozniacki’s love for chocolate, he was eager to engage in a business partnership with the tennis star and find out how it would work for the two.

Drew LeMesurier, who works as a marketing agent for Lagardère Unlimited, contacted Wozniacki in September during the Wuhan Open to tell her about Godiva’s interest to sign her. Wozniacki formally met Elsarky in November in New York, which paved the way for their alliance. However, the cost of the endorsement deal was not revealed.

Godiva was founded by Joseph Dras in 1926. Their products such as premium chocolates, truffles, biscuits, dipped fruits and sweets and chocolate liqueur are inspired by the story of Lady Godiva. The company currently has stores in more than 600 shops in various countries, namely, U.S., Canada, UK, Germany, Italy, and some parts of Asia (Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, and China).

Meanwhile, Wozniacki will be playing her next tournament at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. She enters the tournament as one of the top contenders for the title, which she first won in 2011. Wozniacki will face other top-ranked female athletes in the likes of Serena Williams, Simona Halep, Ana Ivanovic, Petra Kvitova, Agnieszka Radwanska, Ekaterina Makarova and Angelique Kerber. The men’s field features Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic, Australian Open runner-up Andy Murray, 17-time grand slam champion Roger Federer and Tomas Berdych.
