Now that infinite runners have pretty much dominated the mobile gaming scene, it can be hard to find one genuinely interesting or original these days. That being said, it appears that the upcoming mobile game “Cartoon Survivor,” from Spunge Games might have what it takes to stand out from some of the other titles that are negatively associated with the genre.

The game has players taking control of Doo Doo the Dodo, a Road Runner-esque character who must survive numerous obstacle courses to please a sick producer of a cartoon show, which adds a “Hunger Games” feel to the infinite runner. Doo Doo must collect as many tokens as he can before a pack of dynamite strapped to his back explodes. He must also do this while avoiding a good number of obstacles, while presumably doing tasks that the evil producer asks of him.

Pocket Gamer notes that “Cartoon Survivor” will have 23 different levels, spanning four different prehistoric eras. So not only will players be controlling a poor extinct bird through a variety of challenging levels, but they will also have to contend with the possibility that dinosaurs will try to gob up the poor bird.

As the players go through the levels, they will also notice the amount of variety found in the game’s stages, at least from what can be seen in the gameplay footage below. The game has also garnered praise from Android Spin for its cartoon inspired graphics that give the title some visual flavor.

The animated visuals can be partially credited to Liquid Animation, since Sponge Games is a spin-off studio from the animation company. The company has done many animated work for commercials and even made the CGI visuals for the “Duck Dodgers” cartoon for Warner Bros starring famous Looney Tune, Daffy Duck.

Anyone looking for a fresh, original or visually interesting take on the infinite runner genre will only have to wait a couple of weeks before the game gets released. The title is expected to hit both Android and iOS devices in the near future, though it’s unclear if the game will be a paid purchase or a free-to-play title like most games in the genre.
