Cesc Fabregas Reveals What Attracted Him To Chelsea
The Spaniard footballer Cesc Fabregas has been a Chelsea player since June. In a recent interview, he revealed what attracted him to join the club.
"I felt valued when I spoke to the boss [Jose Mourinho]," Fabregas said in an interview with UEFA when asked about his decision. The athlete also talked about his new life in London during the interview.
In 2011, the Spain international joined Barca from Arsenal, and some expected him to return to the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window. However, Fabregas joined Chelsea for 27 million pounds. Months after Fabregas' transfer, it's still a subject of debate. As such, the midfielder has once again addressed the issue: "Then you write the team down on a piece and you say: Wow, this is a great team. It made me think it would be good to come here and take up a new challenge," Fabregas claimed.
Moreover, for Fabregas, joining Chelsea also means returning to London. He revealed that he never completely left London and claimed that whenever he has spare days he always comes back to the place he considers his second home.
Just recently, the manager of Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, said that he understands why Fabregas was named as the team captain of Arsenal despite his young age. Fabregas was given the role as the team captain of Arsenal when he was just 21 years old. At that time, although he has already proven his worth as a key player in the club and as one of the best midfielders in Europe,Fabregas was considered to be too young as a team captain.
However, the Chelsea boss said that Fabregas embodies a fantastic profile and personality that is fit for a leader, and he admitted that Fabregas is better than he thought. It's not his performance that reportedly surprised the Chelsea manager, but his behaviour. But then again, he further claimed that Fabregas was not made the team captain of Chelsea because the club holds a unique philosophy.
