Chad Kroeger’s ex-wife Avril Lavigne voices Snow White in ‘Charming’
While she is known for her hit songs “Complicated” and “Hello Kitty,” among many others, Avril Lavigne is set to voice Snow White in the comical spin on classic fairy tales titled “Charming.” Prior to this, she was forced to take career hiatus as she struggles with Lyme disease.
Written and directed by Ross Venokur, “Charming” will also star Demi Lovato as Lenore, Ashley Tisdale as Cinderella, Gloria Tang as Sleeping Beauty, Keith Cleverstein as Jason and John Clease as Fairy Godmother, among others. The animated movie is set to be released in 2016.
This is not the first time Lavigne is voicing a character. In 2006, the “Sk8r Boi” singer also voiced Heather in the animated comedy “Over the Hedge,” which featured the voices of Bruce Willis, Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes, Allison Janney, William Shatner and Thomas Haden Church, among others.
In 2014, Lavigne’s voice was also featured in the video game “Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff.” This was a year after she released her self-titled fifth studio album, which featured her technopop song “Hello Kitty.”
In August, Lavigne was back in the spotlight after returning to the stage with Taylor Swift, whose “Bad Blood” music video recently won Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards 2015. Days after this, she announced her separation from Canadian rock back Nickelback frontmant Chad Kroeger, after two years of marriage.
Before Kroeger, Lavigne was married to Canadian rock band Sum 41 lead singer and guitarist Deryck Whibley, who she collaborated with for the “Alice in Wonderland” soundtrack “Alice.” They got married in 2006 but the marriage lasted only for four years.
While Lavigne struggles with Lyme disease, Whibley survived being in a medically induced coma because of organ failure related to alcoholism. On Aug. 30, Sunday, the Sum 41 rocker looked healthy as he married girlfriend Ariana Cooper at the Hotel Bel Air in Beverly Hills, Daily Mail reported.
