Borders Australia proclaims to launch online bookstores power-driven by the Kobo e-books download service and sell its own devices of e-book reader.

The Borders book retailer is selling its online bookstore contents which is well-matched with many devices besides its own e-book reader and aims to become equal with rivals and win their part of the rapidly growing e-book market.

The CEO of Borders Australia parent company REDgroup retail, Dave Fenlon, stated that Borders offers a price guarantee that in-print books will always be less pricey on Borders Australia online compared to on Amazon.com, which solves the incongruity of printed books being cut-priced to buy online from the USA than within Australia.

According to iT News, Fenlon said Borders would refund the difference plus 10% if an Australian customer discovers a book sold less pricey on Amazon.com compared to Borders Australia. This is said to mitigate the continuous fluctuation of book prices with currency movements.

Amazon.com launched its Kindle e-book reader in the year 2007, providing it a kick-start on the industrially extensive switch to e-books that Borders Australia and Borders USA have missed out on up to now.

Borders Australia online bookstore will be launched on the 19th of May, and is anticipated to offer more than a million items inclusive of e-boos, newspapers and magazines to be purchased as well as the Kabo e-book reader device at an estimated price point within the amount of AUS$200.
