Still wearing his signature “Sons of Anarchy” scruff, “King Arthur” lead star Charlie Hunnam pose for a snap with director Guy Ritchie during the first day of filming. Now that he officially traded his leather for fur, the British actor is set to play Arthur Pendragon, the legendary king of Camelot.

Dubbed as a different kind of Arthur, the “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur” follows a young Arthur running at the back alleys of Londonium. Unaware of his future and the life he was born for, Arthur’s life changed when he held the sword Excalibur and met a fair maiden named Guinevere.

“Instantly challenged by the power of Excalibur, Arthur is forced to make some hard choices,” according to “King Arhtur’s” official plot synopsis. “He must learn to master the sword, face down his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern, who stole his crown and murdered his parents and become King.”

Scheduled to open in summer 2016, Ritchie’s feature film will also star Eric Bana as Arthur’s father, Uther Pendragon and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey (“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Strangers Tide”) as the Arthurian love interest Guinevere. “Game of Throne’s star Aidan Gillen, who is known for his role in HBO as Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish, will play as Goosefat Bill.

“Blood Diamond” star Djimon Hounsou will play as Bedivere, King Arthur’s marshal who returns Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake. “Cold Mountain” star Jude Law is set for a villainous character, Vortigern, the King who murdered Uther Pendragon and stole the crown from Arthur.

Meanwhile, the 34-year-old star can next be seen in Guillermo del Toro’s gothic horror “Crimson Peak” with “Thor” star Tom Hiddleston and “Alice in Wonderland” actress Mia Wasikowska. The movie mark the actor’s return to the big screen since his starring role in 2013’s “Pacific Rim” with the same director.

Hunnam also replaced “Sherlock” star benedict Cumberbatch in Brad Pitt’s “Lost City of Z,” a movie about an ill-fated exploration of the British explorer Percy Fawcett in the rainforest of Amazon. The actor will star alongside “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson and “American Sniper” actress Sienna Miller.
