Chelsea came out with a big win on Sunday against bitter rivals Manchester United and Blues defender Branislav Ivanovic believes that his side are slowly able to pick-up on things on the pitch because of the influence of Jose Mourinho.

"He's the perfect one. He's the guy who gives us a lot of confidence and we're improving game by game," Ivanovic told chelseafc.com.

"For us, as players, it's very important to stay at that level and prove to him every day that we can do better and better."

The Serbian international went down with an injury last month and remained on the sidelines, but was able to make it back on time for the highly anticipated fixture.

His presence proved vital as he was able to limit Red Devils starlet Adnan Januzaj's contribution in the ball game.

"It was a very important game and a very hard game," he added.

"We played really well in the first half and I think we controlled the match. It's massive for the confidence and a massive three points."

"It's important to be on top of our game, we played well and we deserved the three points."

Chelsea, who are currently holding third spot of the Premier League table - just two points behind leaders Arsenal, have won their last six games and will look to keep their good run going as they try to move up the standings.

They will have to deal with an FA Cup match against Stoke City this coming Sunday before returning to League action against West Ham United.
