Andre Schurrle was thrilled with the win against Manchester City on Sunday wherein Fernando Torres provided him an assist for the opening goal, before scoring the winner in extra-time.

"It's so special for me to finally score my first goal for Chelsea, and also at home in a big game. I will never forget this. It was a perfect afternoon for me and for the team because Fernando scored at the end and we won. That was the most important thing," Schurrle told chelseafc.com.

"It was one of the hardest matches I've ever played in. It was very physical out there. The tempo and the intensity were unbelievably high, everyone was giving 100%."

Schurrle hailed teammate Torres for putting on a fantastic performance for the Blues.

"Fernando was very good," said Schurrle.

"He was strong, he was fast, and I think we all saw that he is one of the best strikers in the world. I see him every day in training and he works really hard, so he deserved his goal."

The German spoke of the highly-anticipated Capital One Cup action against Arsenal, which features his compatriot Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker.

"It's no surprise for me that Mesut (Ozil) is playing so well. I'll be happy to see him and (Per) Mertesacker because we have a good team spirit in the national team and we are all good friends, but tomorrow, for 90 minutes, there are no friends," he disclosed.

"I think the manager will change many positions but we have high quality in every member of the squad and there will be no problem for us," Schurrle explained.

"I think Arsenal will change their players, too, and it's going to be a good match. I am very happy to be a part of our squad, and with a team like Chelsea you want to win every competition you are in, so we'll do everything tomorrow to win the match."
