China's Latest Stealth J-31 fighter Jet Can Take Down the United States in Favor of Russia
China's display of growing and evolving military force has been making headlines with the latest one on a new stealth jet fighter. According to the developer of the new J-31 stealth fighter, the new system can "take down" its primary combat opponent. This means the Lockheed Martin F-35 from the US. Is China's new military capability a real threat for the US and in favor of Russia?
Aviation Industry Corp of China (Avic) president, Lin Zuoming, shares in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) about the company's new product: "When it takes to the sky, it could definitely take down the F-35."
"It's a certainty." He added.
The attention over China's military has been increasing especially with the country's relationship with Russia. The latter's been faced with intensifying tension with the Obama administration as it continues to mobilize military forces in Ukraine and other parts of the globe. The West wants to sanction Russia further for the act while Vladimir Putin argues their military acts are justifiable.
China's new stealth fighter will target nations that cannot afford or access the US-version according to Lin. According to SCMP, the West fighter gathered inputs from other allies and Nato members. In lieu of this "competition" China wants something of its own.
"The next-generation air forces that are unable to buy the F-35 have no way to build themselves up. We don't believe the situation should be that way," explained Lin.
"The world should be balanced. Good things shouldn't all be pushed to one party." The president added.
The twin-engine fighter jet was unveiled during the Zhuhai air show in the previous month. According to SCMP, it is show of force during President Barrack Obama's visit to the region.
The J-31 counts as the second stealth fighter jet to be made from China.
On top of the stealth fighter, Russian media has also reported about a new Type 1130 close-in weapon system from China. It can fire up to 10,000 rounds per minute capable of destroying 90% of hypersonic missiles running at quadruple the speed of sound (via Want Daily).
This may come off in favor of Russia should former Soviet Leader Mikhail Gorbachev's warning be true. According to Gorbachev, the countries can engage in a new war if they cannot reconcile differences.
