Actor Chris Evans is scheduled to give race drivers the command "Start your engines" at the 56th Annual Daytona 500 series race. Marvel has confirmed that the "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" star will serve as the Grand Marshal for the event that will take place on Sunday, February 23, at the Daytona International Speedway.

"What better way to kick-off 'The Great American Race' than with Captain America, Chris Evans, giving the command to start engines. We look forward to having him be a part of our pre-race ceremonies in front of more than one hundred thousand race fans in attendance and millions more watching on FOX as we launch the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season," Joie Chitwood III, the Daytona International Speedway President, stated in the Comic Book report.

Aside from giving the command, the 32-year-old actor will be participating in the pre-race ceremonies, get introduced at the driver's meeting and have the opportunity to ride in one of the Grand Marshal cars. Chris Evan's appearance at the Daytona 500 race includes him in the list of celebrities that showed up at the event to promote their upcoming movies.

The previous Daytona 500 celebrity Grand Marshals are John Travolta, Ben Affleck, Nicolas Cage, Kate Upton, Jane Lynch, Matthew McConaughey and James Franco. According to the Hollywood Reporter, James Franco made a controversial appearance at the 2013 Daytona 500 race while promoting "Oz the Great and Powerful" film when the actor changed the one-line command by including the name of auto racing driver Danica Patrick.

The Daytona 500 race is scheduled on Sunday, February 23, at 1 pm ET with broadcasting on FOX, FOX Deportes, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio as well as live streaming on the FOX Sports GO app. As for Chris Evans' upcoming film, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is scheduled to hit movie theaters on April 4, 2014.

Other cast members in the movie sequel include "Avengers" star Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as Natasha Romanoff or the Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as James "Bucky" Barnes or the Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie, "How I Me Your Mother" star Cobie Smulders as Agent Hill, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter or Agent 13 and Samuel L Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury.
