Common On Ex-GF Serena Williams: ‘I Give Her Love All The Time’
Rapper Common recently talked about his relationship with former girlfriend top-ranked tennis player Serena Williams. According to Common, he will always have love for his ex-girlfriend.
Common made an appearance at radio show Power 105.1 The Breakfast Club on March 12 where he talked about a number of things. One of the things he was asked during the interview was his recent run-in with Serena at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party. Common won an Oscar for “Best Original Song” for the movie “Glory.”
Common and Serena were spotted at the post-Oscars bash. The tennis player even took to social media to post a picture of her with Common’s Oscars trophy fueling speculations that the former couple may have gotten back together.
“That’s my girl, I give her love all the time,” Common said. “I saw her at the party, and I’m going to give her that respect, she can hold the Oscar.”
Common and Serena dated for two years before parting ways in 2010. In an interview with Meredith Vieira in her show in February, Common opened up about the current status of his relationship with the tennis ace.
While it may be hard for some couple to maintain friendship after a breakup, Common admitted it is not the case with him and Serena. He also admitted that he doesn’t offer that sense of truce to some of his previous girlfriends. However, Common, who has previously dated singer Erykah Badu and actress Taraji P. Henson, didn’t say who those former girlfriends that he didn’t end up being friends with after a breakup were.
Common revealed that he and Serena have a “great understanding.” He said that he still cares, loves, and respects the 19-time grand slam tennis champion.
Prior to dating Common, Serena dated Jackie Long. She was also linked to director Brett Ratner and her coach Patrick Mouratoglou.
In other news, Serena returns to the 2015 BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells Masters tournament after a 14-year-boycott. She received a wild card entry and seeded first at the tournament. She begins her campaign against Monica Niculesco in her opening second round match on March 14.
