Confirmed iPhone 6, iPhone 5S Killer Features on Release Date as Implied by iOS 7 Beta 3
Apple's iOS 7 marked its third beta rollout at the start of the current week and inevitably, glimpses of killer features for the upcoming iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S release date fall into clear patterns.
While the 214MB patch file is intended for developers' use, while providing bug fixes and feature enhancements, Apple - intentionally and unintentionally - is giving previews of the exciting capabilities for its 2013 and 2014 flagship smartphones.
Jony Ive redesigned the iOS 7 and in the process implemented another major revision of the popular mobile platform, which the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S will carry in full display in the few months ahead.
And snippets of these cool iOS device features are outlined below:
Better active app management
Beta 3, according to Apple, deals with numerous application glitches, specifically the ones in active use. The App Switcher, for example, was repaired to properly display all suspended application in a single screen swipe. The Push Notification was also updated to eliminate duplicate reminders or the non-arrival of notifications.
Also, one of the most frequently-used apps, the Messaging, got a needed fix. Now, users can view attachments on two separate conversation threads without fear of a sudden crash.
Optimal keyboard typing on Safari
Safari's virtual keyboard is more user-friendly with the third beta instalment as Apple hid the annoying .com key that many complains is a bane for fast and accurate typing. The button is summoned, when needed, by pressing down the Period key and presto it appears on top of the Space key.
With it, the keyboard also offers popular domain suffixes such as .net, .edu and .org.
'Day Dot' notification makes a return on Calendar app
Apple thought it wise to shove way day dot from iOS 7 following its wide use in old iOS builds. Thankfully for many Calendar app users, it has been returned in beta 3 and probably in the final build.
In the month view mode, the gray dots will appear under the date, indicating that users are set for a number of events for a specific day.
'Widgets' on iPhone lockscreen
Apple is not really mimicking this original Android feature but is somehow tweaking the handset's lockscreen for it to deliver key information and get into limited-use mode without unlocking.
With the beta 3 on board, users can flick a key and the device will illuminate, still lock, to display the current time and pre-configured control buttons. If a music file is in play, the lockscreen will also flash an album art when available.
