Samsung is soon transforming the inner make of first 2013 flagship, the Galaxy S4, with the scheduled arrival of the latest Android in circulation, the Jelly Bean 4.3.

Yet while the new JB arrival is a certainty, backed by the South Korean tech giant's confirmation, the actual GS4 inside alteration could take some time, likely starting only in the mid-part of Q4 2013.

Come the Samsung-centric website SamMobile to the rescue, offering what it claimed as partly-official GS4 firmware update, specifically designed for the handset bearing the model number GT-I9505.

The upgrade, according to the same report, will lead to stable install and better performance though little noticeable changes on the outside. "Most of the changes are under the hood, except a few minor UI changes here and there," SamMobile said.

However, as Samsung's Jelly Bean 4.3 re-configuration remains underway, the final version "may add more features before rolling out the official update itself."

Still, JB 4.4 for the GS4, test or final build, is a compelling jump with the following benefits for the millions of GS4 owners out there:

Samsung KNOX

This service has been promised by Samsung months ago and is finally coming with JB 4.3. It allows users to securely access their work related applications and files while enjoying an extra layer of protection both for employees and employers.

In the test firmware, "Samsung KNOX works like a charm," SamMobile said.

Samsung Wallet

The application, which provides a way to manage and store things like tickets, membership cards, coupons and similar items, per Android Central, has been existence even before the gradual JB 4.3 rollout in August.

However, the service seems to be offline for now as Samsung is blocking download attempts for the application. Likely, full function will follow once the official JB 4.3 build is officially out. At least, this confirms that the GS4 now has the answer to the iPhone 5S' iOS Passbook.

Reading Mode

Samsung first introduced this function with the Galaxy Note 8.0 then extended it to the GS4 and the Galaxy Tab 3 series. The final improvements have to yet to be revealed but more likely the e-book reading experience is further optimised by supporting more applications.

Display screen enhancement

Jelly Bean 4.3 on the GS4 is not really a major revamp - no fresh UI and icon redesigns. But the general viewing experience on the device has been levelled up, SamMobile said, noting that "this firmware has improved colour reproduction of the display quite a bit and the text looks even sharper than before."

Or Galaxy S4 owners can simply wait out for the official release date of the Jelly Bean 4.3 from Samsung, which should start hitting the update pipeline between late October and early November this year.
