A South Korean court rejects Samsung's petition to ban the sale of Apple Inc's older iPhone and iPad models in the country.

The judge said in his decision that the said products of the U.S.-based tech giant did not violate Samsung's patents on short message display methods and message grouping features. It also said further that the same features can be developed using existing technologies.

This decision ultimately denied Samsung's request for Apple to pay 100 million won for damages.

Samsung's camp says it will review the decision thoroughly before deciding whether or not to appeal.

"As Apple has continued to infringe our patented mobile technologies, we will continue to take the measures necessary to protect our intellectual property rights," Samsung said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Apple's representatives in South Korea is pleased with the court decision.

"We are glad the Korean court joined others around the world in standing up for real innovation and rejecting Samsung's ridiculous claims," Apple Korea spokesman Steve Park said to Reuters.

The suit is part of Apple's global courtroom battle in 2011 where it first accused the South Korean tech giant of copying the look and feel of its iconic iPhone and iPad.

In a separate decision released last Aug, the same court ordered Apple to pay 40 million won in damages for infringing two of Samsung's wireless technology patents. But it also ordered the latter to pay 25 million won for violating the patent for the 'bouncing-back function' used when scrolling electronic documents.

That same month, US Trade Rep. Michael B. G. Froman vetoed the US International Trade Commission's decision to grant the import ban against select Apple products.

Last Nov, a US court ordered Samsung to pay $290 million to Apple for infringing several of the latter's patents.

But in Mannheim, Germany, the court rejects Apple's patent infringement claim against Samsung pertaining to the multi-language function in smartphones.
