Hot on the heels of Halloween, "Criminal Minds" Season 10 Episode 5 takes place on the eve of Halloween, where the BAU team are dealing with a possible duo of kidnappers who only abduct one child every Halloween. Though very reminiscent of scary tales told on the scary festival of the year, the latest episodes brings more ill news about the living than the dead.

Here, a victim was spotted in a pumpkin patch wearing a skeleton costume. And even though it appeared that he was dead, he suddenly opened his eyes and screamed for him to be released. What's interesting about this case is that, while one kid is abducted on Halloween, the abductor gets another kid on the Eve of Halloween but also releases the old one that he has held for almost an entire year.

The BAU team is already dealing with a captured unsub, one whom they had suspected was behind a similar case on the previous Halloween. And now they are thinking on whether or not a copycat is on the loose or perhaps his partner is still continuing the job the captured unsub has failed to do. But as it turns out, the captured unsub has only taken the glory of the first abduction, and the real unsub is still on the loose. In addition, the newest victim is already in the hands of the abductor.

As the "Criminal Minds" BAU team try to find the abductor, a woman comes to them saying that she may have a clue of who they are looking for and that person is the unsub's sister. During this time, the BAU team now try to trace the memories of a broken family who also had to deal with a very sad and very tragic Halloween years ago.

Between speculations of mirroring is parental abuser and the fact that the mother was hiding something to keep his son safe, the BAU team discover a heavy secret. The unsub is a product of another disastrous home environment. As it turns out, the unsub is in one of the secrets that had turned his home and his life upside down.

The unsub may be haunted by the ghost of his past and his father. Even as he is captured, the last words of the unsub before he is cuffed and taken away is that the team will not find the victim.

As the team starts trying to find the little boy who had just been beaten up by the unsub, the one person who is able to save him from the silent stupor that he put on himself is his mother, the one person whom he shared a Halloween secret with. The BAU team manages to find the boy in time, making sure that it's a Halloween without a frightful ending.
