‘Crimson Peak’ Spoilers: Charlie Hunnam vs. Tom Hiddleston In A New Gothic Trailer [VIDEO]
Set to premiere in October 2015, Guillermo del Toro’s “Crimson Peak” recently released a new teaser trailer featuring two of its lead actors, Charlie Hunnam and Tom Hiddleston. The two Hollywood hunks play the two potential love rivals of Mia Wasikowska’s character, Edith Cushing.
The “Crimson Peak” trailer was released on Friday. This is the first official trailer of the new gothic horror film from the same director who brought “Hellboy” and “Pans Labyrinth,” Guillermo del Toro. The short teaser opens with the “Alice in Wonderland” star at an abandoned snow-strewn mine where she is stalked by an unseen creature as she narrates, “Ghosts are real… this much I know.”
Wasikowska plays an aspiring young author who is torn between her childhood friend (Hunnam) and a mysterious stranger (Hiddleston). After a whirlwind romance with an outsier, she discovered that her charming husband is not who she thinks he is.
Filled with creepy imagery and “horribly smoking apparitions that crawls around the house,” the “Crimson Peak” trailer follows the heroine to the new house owned by her mysterious husband and his sister. A childhood home of the Sharpes, the house is also the home of many unseen presence that will haunt the young writer following a horrific tragedy in her own family.
The trailer also features a bodiless voice that warns her not to leave the house because she has nowhere to go and ends with a burnt human arm wrapping itself around her while she sleeps. The movie is another masterpiece of the Mexican director who is known for his dark fairy tales and haunting images.
Filmed in a gothic mansion, the haunting new film stars the “Sons of Anarchy” actor, Charlie Hunnam, as Dr Alan McMichael, a very learned guy who is in love with Edith. “Thor” star Tom Hiddleston plays Thomas Sharpe, Edith’s husband with a dark secret. Other stars in the movie include Jessica Chastain as Lady Lucille Sharpe, Jim Beaver as Carter Cushing and Leslie Hope as Mrs McMichael.
Written and directed by del Toro, “Crimson Peak” is produced by Legendary Pictures and distributed by Universal Pictures. The crew started filming on Feb. 10 and wrapped up production on May 14, 2015. Watch the "Crimson Peak" trailer here.
