“Dancing With The Stars” contestant Suzanne Somers revealed in a lighter vein that the only time she danced was when her landlord came to collect rent in the early years. The actress and author said this speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about her present stint. Suzanne is known for her role as Carol Lambert on “Step by Step” that aired in 1990s.

The 68-year-old star ranks as one of the top seven oldest competitors on DWTS. She said that she never took dance lessons in her life before the dance reality show happened to her. The “Three’s Company” star also divulged that since the inception of the show, she was asked to participate in it, but every time she had to refuse for want of time. This time she was readying for a show in Las Vegas and thought that it would be a great opportunity to participate in DWTS as it would also keep her fit for the show.

It was Alan Hamel, her husband who spoke to Deena Katz, the co-executive producer of the show and the latter thought that Alan was trying to get rid of her when he told that Suzanne would join DWTS this season. Talking about her professional dance partner Tony Dovolani, she said he is a tough taskmaster, but also fair. “I am so used to being the boss and making my own decisions that being back in class with a world champion dancer took some mental calisthenics on my part. He told me that in five days of teaching me, he is squeezing in four years of lessons,” Suzanne said. But, one thing for sure, the dancing duo is focussed on winning the Mirror Ball Trophy this season.

Her new book “TOX-SICK: From Toxic to Not Sick” is scheduled for release on April 14. Suzanne said that she loves to take up any challenge that scares her and DWTS is her present challenge. The 68-year-old is also a perfectionist and likes to beat herself into giving her best. Meanwhile, the diva also added that she doesn’t like to judge her competitors as she thinks that they are there because they are good and motivated like her.

Somers and her partner Tony were in the bottom two on ‘My Jam Monday’ with the lowest combined score from the judges and the public. The pair got themselves a score of 28 points. The judges gave them rave reviews. They jived to “Whole Lotta Shakin Going On” by Jerry Lee Lewis, with the 68-year-old actress donning a pink-fringe dress and dancing on the top of a leopard print piano.
