Daniel Ricciardo To Appear In Top Gear’s ‘Star In A Reasonably Priced Car’
Aussie Red Bull racing driver Daniel Ricciardo is set to make an appearance on the popular Top Gear segment “Star In A Reasonably Priced Car.” It will be the third episode of Top Gear Series 22, which will be aired in the UK on Feb. 8.
The 25-year-old, who finished third in the 2014 Driver’s World Championship, has confirmed his Top Gear appearance in a recent Red Bull event, the Daily Mail reported.
“It’s been a while since I heard people asking, ‘When are you going to go on Top Gear,’ so the time has come,” Ricciardo said. “I hope it’s cold so the engine is crisp, but I also hope it’s dry so I can actually have a good crack.”
Ricciardo will go up against previous timed laps set by fellow Formula One, or F1, racers. Reigning F1 champion Lewis Hamilton currently holds the record with 1:42:9 followed by his compatriot Mark Webber with 1:43:1, his former teammate Sebastian Vettel with 1:44:0 and Rubens Barichello with 1:44:3.
Ricciardo will drive a Suzuki Liana, which is specifically reserved for F1 drivers. Other celebrity participants including Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Hugh Jackman, Matt LeBlanc, Guy Ritchie, Ewan McGregor and Boris Becker have driven around the Top Gear track in cars such as Chevrolet Lacetti, Kia Cee’d and Vauxhall Astra at Dunsfold Park in Surrey.
