It’s definitely going to be one explosive episode for Salemites as “Days Of Our Lives” (“DOOL”) starts the year. On Tuesday, things get hot and heavy for Chad (Billy Flynn) and Abby (Marci Miller) as they celebrate New Year’s Eve. Spoilers suggest, however, that their cloud of romance won’t last, and they'll be back to having a troubled relationship.

Speaking of problematic couples, Rafe (Galen Gering) defies prison rules to see Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and deliver the bad news about Stefano (Joseph Mascolo). Joey (James Lastovic), on the other hand, is shattered when he discovers that Jade (Paige Searcy) has lost the baby. Other “Days Of Our Lives” characters who will figure prominently on the Jan. 3 installment include Gabi (Camila Banus), JJ (Casey Moss) and Andre (Thaoo Penghlis).

TV Guide reports that on Tuesday’s run of “DOOL,” Joey reels after hearing a heartbreaking piece of information. Gabi and JJ, on the other hand, find a way to accept the outcome of a stunning bombshell. Meanwhile, Rafe manages to get permission for a late-night visit to inform Hope that Stefano is not dead. Elsewhere, Chad and Abby spend a romantic night together after sharing a New Year’s Eve kiss.

"Days Of Our Lives" soap recap

In the previous episode, Chad and Andre were seen in the pub sharing a drink. The two brothers talked about the difficulties their family endured throughout the year. Chad blasted his brother again for helping conceal the truth that Abby’s alive, and Andre defended his actions. Andre followed it up with another shocking revelation: Stefano may still be alive. Andre then steered the conversation back to Abby and advised Chad to forgive her.

At the park, Gabi helped Abby, who was having another panic attack. Abby compelled Gabi to explain how she and Chad got together. Abby said that while she didn’t have any plans to come back, she’s now ready to have her family back. She asked Gabi, “Are you going to stand in the way of that?” When Gabi answered no, Abby urged her to start anew with JJ. Later, Abby returned to the DiMera mansion and prepared champagne for her and Chad. They shared a toast for starting a new year together and ended up kissing.
