Dell XPS12

Dell's latest line of ultrabook started shipping last July 29. Vying to earn a spot in the market, the ultrabook offers several features making it distinctive from other competitors. The first of these is the rotating screen. Lenovo previously caught the market's attention with Yoga that bends and flexes. Dell XPS12 created a flip-hinge that will make consumers take a second look at it.

Users only need to unlatch the screen, flip it and then close the lid again. The ultrabook transforms instantly into a Windows 8 tablet. Despite the bulky display for a tablet, the screen features Gorilla Glass. It also has 10-point multitouch support. Display is 12.5 inches and offers 1920 x 1080 LCD resolutions. The laptop is available starting at $1199.

Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus

Samsung's Series 9 is considered as one of the best ultrabooks in 2012. This time, the Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus paves the way for another shot at the top spot. The 13.3-inch ultrabook sports a sleek design though it is the screen which makes it stand out from the rest. It does not flip and bend, rather, it offers a crazy resolution that can rival Apple's MacBook Pro Retina. The newest ATIV Book 9 Plus offers better resolution of pixels-per-inch support (PPI) compared to the Chromebook. For people who want to save a few dollars, they can opt for the 1920 x 1080 resolution panel variant. The whole frame measures 0.53 inches and it weighs 3lbs. While it is bulkier or heavier than most competitors, the difference does not account for much.
