Australian songstress, Delta Goodrem, was accused of plagiarizing one of the hit songs of Canadian band, Arcade Fire.

The songs are not similar in lyrics, but the chords and melody are quite the same. The alleged similarities between "Sitting on Top of the World," which is Delta's first new single in four years, and "Rebellion (Lies)," one of Arcade Fire's biggest hits, aroused a debate in some music blogs and social media.

Musicians such as Darren Cross, a former member of Australian electro act Gerling, said that The Voice judge "totally rips off the song" of the Canadian band. Critics were quick to join the madness and took Twitter as their resolve. They said that the two songs share similarities on the base/piano riff and the crescendo chorus

Delta co-wrote the "Sitting on Top Of The World" with American hitmaker and producer, John Shanks.

Delta's single debuted at No.2 on the ARIA charts but was pushed to No.3 this week by rocker-in-the-making Reece Mastin's second single, "Shut Up & Kiss Me."

The popstar and her record label Sony has not yet commented on the allegations.

Delta Goodrem once dominated the music industry with her debut album, Innocent Eyes, in 2003, which stayed 29th non-consecutive weeks in the ARIA hit chart.

At the young age of 15, Delta Goodrem shined the brightest when she topped the Australian chart with her debut album and named as the most promising young stars by Sony Music.

However, a health condition stopped short her music domination. She was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2008 and derailed her from her career path and to conquer the US music charts. After winning the battle against cancer, she moved to Los Angeles, California and recorded her fourth album.

Delta was once engaged to former Westlife's member Brian McFadden. When the engagement was called off, she found new love in the arms of Disney star Nick Jonas. The couple broke up earlier this year.
