Demi Lovato's Anti-Bullying Campaign: 'Mean Stinks'
Demi Lovato has had quite a comeback year this 2012. From releasing a kick-ass album to becoming a judge on "X-Factor", Lovato is proving bullying and her other psychological problems are not becoming a hindrance to her success. Now, as a helping hand to bullying victims like her, Demi has put up an anti-bullying campaign named "Mean Stinks."
"I had a really tough time when I was in middle school. People would write 'hate petitions' [about me] & send them around to be signed. They'd have CD-bashing parties of my demos. They'd come to my house, stand across the street and yell things. It was a very emotional time for me, and all I wanted to do was get away. Back then, there were times I didn't think I'd be able to move on," admits a Demi Lovato to People.
Thankfully, after almost a year of intensive rehab and psychological treatment sessions, Demi is learning to get by each day. Being on the "other side" of the fence, Lovato is giving a helping hand to other girls facing the same problem as hers. Demi is now the new ambassador of Secret's anti-bullying campaign named "Mean Stinks" which encourages all girls to "gang up for good" and end bullying in school.
"I heard about the program last year, and thought it was such a great opportunity. They're really trying to put an end to bullying," says the "X-Factor" judge.
Selena Gomez's' BFF even managed to surprise a few students at NYC's Young Women's Leadership School. At the program, Lovato asked girls to pledge on having a "Drama Free School Year" by painting their pinky fingers blue and making a pinky swear.
"I'll definitely be wearing [the nail polish] starting soon. It's a conversation starter: 'Hey, why is your pinky blue?' 'This is a pinky promise that I'm not going to bully people, that me and my friends are ganging up for good,'" explains Demi Lovato.
Demi Lovato definitely has things going great this year and surprisingly even her love life looks to be promising with a budding romance with a certain One Direction cutie. For now, Demi is focusing on her career and her fans.
