'Designated Survivor' season 2 spoilers: Peter MacLeish knows there's a huge price to pay for wanting to be vice president
"Designated Survivor" returns in March 2017
“Designated Survivor” Season 1 recently ended with a huge cliffhanger. Fans will have to wait for the next season in March 2017 to know what would become of President Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) and Peter MacLeish (Ashley Zukerman).

In the Season 1 finale, titled “The Oath,” MacLeish’s confirmation vote is still bound to happen. Hookstratten (Virginia Madsen) tried to delay until the arrival of Hannah (Maggie Q), but the other congressmen were already getting impatient. Ultimately, Hannah failed to arrive and the potential terrorist was voted as the new VP of the United States.
Hookstratten was concerned and immediately told Kirkman about Hannah’s feeling. Kirkman looked deeper in to the issue and went to several people to get more information.
In the episode, MacLeish and his wife were getting ready for the swearing-in ceremony. He was having doubts and shared whether he could go through with becoming vice president. His wife assured him that it was exactly what they have been working for. She explained that MacLeish was chosen to survive for a reason. His wife added that he was given the huge task to restore America to the empire that it used to be and can be again.
The plan was for Kirkman to be assassinated and MacLeish to become president. Is his wife involved in the entire evil scheme. Hannah realized that Kirkman was the target at the big event and rushed to try and save him. During the ceremony, a sniper prepared to aim his rifle at the head of state. Hannah attempted to stop the sharpshooter and the latter pulled the trigger.
The “Designated Survivor” Twitter account showed some details surrounding the cliffhanger ending. The teaser showed the chaos caused by the gunshot that may end with Kirkman’s demise.
At the end of the episode, a lot of questions remained, such as who took the bullet, what became of Hannah, and how Aaron Shore is involved. Peter MacLeish may slowly change his motives when he realizes that there are huge consequences for becoming vice president.
