Producer Marc Cherry explains he had three reasons to kill Eddie Britt, Nicollette Sheridan's character in "Desperate Housewives."

Last week Sheridan took the stand and recalled the incidents that brought her to tears. The former "Desperate Housewives" cast filed a lawsuit against the show's producer after he allegedly hit her head and unjustly killed her character from the show.

The 48-year-old actress demonstrated it on her lawyer for the jury to see. She said she was taken aback by the blow as she described how Cherry hit her. Sheridan said that the producer hit her temple but Cherry said he "tapped" her head.

Yesterday, the producer took the stand for the first time and explained that he had all the reasons and permission to kill Sheridan's character from the top rating show. He said that he received this notice four months prior to the argument he had with Sheridan.

In Cherry's statement, he said that during a meeting that happened on May 2008, ABC executives gave him permission to kill the character "Eddie Britt." Opposing the statement, Sheridan's attorney said that Cherry prematurely fired the actress when she complained about the changes that had to be made.

Sheridan seeks more than $6 million for unjust termination and battery. However, on his testimony on the stand yesterday, Cherry said the three reasons for killing "Eddie Britt."

He listed them as creative, cost-cutting and Sheridan's behavior. The producer claims she was tardy, always forget lines and rude towards prop persons.

The show's main actresses Longoria, Hatcher, Cross and Huffman are scheduled to testify in favor of Marc Cherry.
