Previous reports indicate that "Destiny" for the Xbox and PS4, a day after its launch last week, sold for $500 million. However, Activision has clarified in an official statement that the figure was misinterpreted.

In a press release on Wednesday, Activision confirmed the $500 million was for sales on the number of copies sold to retail stores and not to costumers. The actual confirmed amount of sales did not reach the previously reported figure though. "Destiny" sold "more than $325 million worldwide in its first five days." The number, according to the statement, is based on "Chart-Track, first parties, retail customer sell-through information and Activision Blizzard internal estimates."

The retail price of "Destiny" is $60. Factoring in that amount, according to Inquisitr, Activision sold around 5.4 million copies within the given 5-day time period. Additionally, Activision collated data on the number of hours players were logged in to the game. A reported 100 million hours were generated on the first week alone. "Millions of gamers are having a great time playing Destiny and can't put down their controller," Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, commented on the data.

The apparent fan base generated by the game has prompted the developers to assure players that "Destiny" will continue to evolve. Hirshberg claimed Activision is in talks with Bungie about new developments for the game.

True to their word, Bungie has added a new experience to the game on Tuesday. According to Inquisitr's report, "The Vault of Glass" allows a group of six friends with level 26 and above to play the game. Additionally, the game takes 14 hours to complete.

However, Inquisitr claims Bungie will need to step up in terms of developing more experiences. Considering the 100 hours players spend on "Destiny," Bungie may have to develop more experiences soon or else gamers would be looking for them elsewhere, according to the site. Furthermore, reviews for the game have reportedly been a mix of Metracritic scores. It gained a score of 76 for PS4 and 79 for Xbox One.

"Destiny" players will have to wait and see what's in store for the game. Bungie has reportedly mentioned additional content will be unlocked in the future including the "Iron Banner."
