‘Destiny’ New Update Adds Several Voice Chat Options; Fan-Made Guide for Iron Banner 2.0 Spotted
A new type of social communication feature will be debuting for "Destiny," and the aim of developer Bungie is to use this as a way to bring Guardians closer together in the game. Answering the fan feedback of letting players speak with each other via the Matchmaking, the developers made in-game chat possible with particular emphasis on consent still being upheld.
In the latest Bungie weekly update, the developer has detailed what will happen with voice chat in "Destiny." This week, patch 1.03 will bring new ways to talk to other Guardians. The first is via Fireteam Chat, a feature already accessible to Destiny players, which allows them to chat with a pre-formed party. The other is via Team Chat, which is a new channel that lets you talk to players whom you have encountered in Matchmaking. This is apart from the Fireteam, which you are already chatting with.
Team Chat is available via the Navigation Mode in "Destiny." Upon entering Navigation Mode, there will be a user interface on the lower right area of the screen. This UI will have the directional button icons, text and icons for current channel and the highlights for available chat options.
For those who may be encountering errors or problems, Bungie has given a few possible reasons. For those who cannot see the voice options, it could be that the party chat service is linked to the particular console that they are using. It's best to use the "Destiny" game channel because a specific channel for a platform will find a different prompt for the Team Chat UI.
Voice Chat settings will have two options, also detailed by "Destiny" dev Bungie, and according to the team, it should also match the player's gameplay. There is the default manually opt-in option, where a player has to enter Navigation Mode to select Team Chat. The other option is to automatically opt-in when solo, where a player will be automatically added to the Team Chat channel.
Of course, this new feature may expose "Destiny" players to strangers whom they may not necessarily like playing with. If at any time this happens, the developer left the option of reverting back to either Fireteam Chat or console-specific interface to mute or even report the strangers who are giving players a hard time. The point is for the new feature to improve the experience of the game so that more alliances can be built.
The future also holds another event for "Destiny," and it's the return of the Iron Banner event. Because of this, fans are already starting to speculate on what they will be finding once the gates open for the event. Redditor AgentNine has created a full link that compiles a couple of tips and more for the Iron Banner 2.0.
This is a pretty useful guide, considering that it enumerates a couple of things, including the new additions and features, gear and bounties and even the updated information on weapons and armours. For instance, in the Iron Banner 2.0, Guardians will now have bigger chances of getting Legendary rewards than before, when Normal Crucible plays would give high-quality gear at best.
There will also be four weapon types available; the types are divided between match rewards and Lod Saladin. For armour, there will a new type for the helm, gauntlet, chest and boot for each Guardian class. Though the old gear will now cost 10 Crucible Marks, there is still no definite price for the new gear.
