‘Doctor Strange': Kevin Feige Talks About Benedict Cumberbatch Landing The Titular Role
Disney recently attended a panel at CineEurope in Barcelona to present some interesting details about “Doctor Strange” and also “Captain America: Civil War.” In a video presentation, Kevin Feige talked about Scott Derrickson’s movie adaptation of “Doctor Strange” and why he thinks Benedict Cumberbatch fits the titular role to play as Sorcerer Supreme.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed his impression of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange in a video message that was presented at the CineEurope on Wednesday, June 24. The Hollywood Reporter quoted him saying that the “Sherlock” star fits the role of Sorcerer Supreme because he offers a "complicated emotional structure." However, Feige didn’t provide any further details nor were there any footage provided for the character.
According to Comic Book Movie, a concept art for Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange was also presented during the panel. YouTube user FilmJunkee has provided the photo showing Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme wielding some kind of magic with his fingers. A concept art for “Captain America: Civil War” was also presented with Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark) and Chris Evans (Steve Rogers) taking centre stage along with the caption, “Choose and fight.”
A few days ago “Doctor Strange” director Scott Derrickson updated fans on the production of the film. Derrickson teased the start of filming for the comic adaptation on his Twitter page.
Hey U Guys also caught up with Benedict Cumberbatch on the red carpet during the 2014 British Independent Film Awards where he was asked about Doctor Strange. The actor expressed his enthusiasm to have landed the role of Sorcerer Supreme. "It's a thrilling gig to get — I just can't wait," he said. Cumberbatch also revealed how he’s “really excited” to start filming but declined to reveal any details about the movie. “There’s a lot of work to be done and I’m just at the beginning of it all so I’m not going to talk too much about it but it’s a thrilling gig to get,” he added.
Benedict Cumberbatch is said to be the perfect choice to portray Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme. According to Cinema Blend, it was his highly praised role in “Imitation Game” that catapulted him into stardom apart from his titular role in “Sherlock Holmes.”
