'Dragon Age: Inquisition' Cheat Codes Allow For Playable Nude Characters
"Dragon Age: Inquisition" was recently released on Nov. 18, yet players have already found ways to enhance their gaming experience. The fantasy game series is famous for allowing players to pursue romantic relationships and eventually sleep with their computer-controlled party members. Sex scenes in the "Dragon Age" series of video games are supposedly considered a common feature, with naked character models performing simulated lovemaking on screen. However, BioWare has since playfully kept the camera view of the encounters at an angle that only shows the top half of the character's body. But this has not stopped clever gamers from discovering a cheat to play the game with the characters fully in the nude in "Dragon Age: Inquisition."
Kotaku claims "Dragon Age: Inquisition" PC gamers were able to manipulate the gameplay using programs that change how the game works. These include changes to their character's attributes, adding items and changing the settings to let characters wear armour sets that are not normally allowed for a specific model.
After fiddling with the "Cheat Engine" program, some players were reportedly able to discover that the nudity setting for the characters are just another armour set recognised by the game. After setting the cheat code, players were able to play the game with their party members in the nude. According to VG24/7, although the character models appear nude from top to bottom, they have a doll-like quality to them due to the developer's decision to avoid modelling the genital features for both male and female characters. The Toronto Sun reports that in the past, BioWare was criticised by fans for not showing enough graphic details during the game's sex scenes. "Dragon Age: Inquisition" is a game designed for players 18 years and above based on its mature content rating. However, the developers have supposedly been careful with its depiction of nudity and sex in order to make the scenes more sensual rather than silly.
Mike Laidlaw, Creative Director of "Dragon Age Inquisition," addressed the cheats and claims if developers had wanted to show more nude characters and "go more explicit," then "I would want to take the fidelity quite a bit higher, I'd want to get motion capture." However, Laidlaw feels that the game can still get a lot of "the same effect with lead-up and insinuation and a tasteful cut. It would reportedly work "just as well, and doesn't run the danger of, 'Oops, wow, that's really cheesy,'" he said.
