Dreams Get Crushed in 'Bloodborne: Nightmare Edition'
Most veteran players of "Dark Souls" and even "Demon Souls" know that reaping the rewards from either game is a hard-fought delight, especially if those rewards come from giant towering bosses, relentlessly difficult enemies and tricky environments. Now with "Bloodborne" as the successor to the Souls games coming to PS4 next year, players now have the option of getting their own personal trophies and totems with the new "Bloodborne: Nightmare Edition."
Eurogamer has announced two different special editions of the upcoming PS4 exclusive. The first is the regular collector's edition available for the U.S. and the U.K., which features a copy of the game, an art book detailing how they made the in-game world and a wealth of character and creature designs, a spiffy-looking steel book case and a code to download the original soundtrack. There are also three pre-order bonuses for fans who want to get their games early on. These are two new messenger skins: "Fedora" messenger skin and "Bandages" messenger skin and a "Bloodborne" Saw Cleaver Steelbook which features unique art from the inside and out.
The second version, dubbed "The Nightmare Edition," has everything from the collector's edition and much more. Gamespot has uncovered an exclusive Bloodborne gothic notebook, a quill and red ink set, a top hat messenger skin for online communications and a bell trinket. Sadly the "Nightmare Edition" is an exclusive to those in Europe, with no signs of release in other territories as of yet, according to the European PlayStation Blog.
"Dark Souls," "Dark Souls 2" and their predecessor "Demon's Souls" are considered as some of the most ridiculously difficult games available for the PS3. Telegraph UK put "Dark Souls" and "Demon's Souls" in their list of the "15 hardest games you will ever play" and Techhive named "Demon's Souls" the hardest you'll ever played. Judging from the chilling gameplay video shown at the 2014 Game Awards and Sony's PlayStation Youtube channel, it looks like "Bloodborne" will follow suit in terms of difficulty and atmosphere as you explore the city of Yharnam in hopes of looking for a cure to the disease that has affected your character. The improved graphics add to the intensity and horror onscreen along with the fantastic lighting effects and wonderful sound design.
Bloodborne will be available in Mar. 24 in North America and Mar. 27 for the UK. If you want a daily reminder of the difficulty and experience this game makes you feel, then pick up the "Nightmare" edition.
